How much anime do today's teens usually watch?
LINE Research, a research platform exclusively for smartphones, has conducted a survey of junior high and high school students across Japan on the anime works they are currently addicted to, and the results have been released.
63% of junior high school students and 56% of high school students watch anime on a regular basis.

Junior high and high school students were surveyed on how much anime they watch on a regular basis, including everything they watch on TV, movies, the Internet, and on DVDs and recordings.
Among junior high school students, "don't watch anime at all" accounted for more than 10% of the total. The proportion of junior high school students who "watch anime at least once a week" was 63%, including "watch almost everyday," "watch 4-5 days a week," "watch 2-3 days a week," and "watch one day a week. Compared to female junior high school students, 20% of male junior high school students selected "watch almost everyday.
Among high school students, "I don't watch anime at all" accounted for just under 20% of all respondents, a slightly higher percentage than among junior high school students. The percentage of high school students who "watch anime at least once a week" was 56% overall.
Comparing junior high and high school students, high school students tended to be more likely to say they "don't watch anime at all. On the other hand, junior high school students were more likely to watch anime at least once a week.
Jutsu Kaisen" and "SPY x FAMILY" are popular among middle and high school students.

Looking at trends among junior high school students, "Jutsu Kaisen" ranked first among junior high school boys at over 40%. Chainsaw Man" and "Doraemon" ranked 7th and 9th among junior high school boys, respectively, with higher percentages than among other groups.
On the other hand, "SPY x FAMILY" and "[My favorite child]" were the top two choices among female junior high school students, each with a high percentage of over 40%. The percentage of junior high school girls ranking "SPY x FAMILY" and "[My favorite child]" was overwhelmingly higher among junior high school girls than among the other groups. The percentage of junior high school girls who selected "HIQUE! and "Bungo Stray Dogs" ranked 6th and 7th, respectively, among junior high school girls.
By gender, junior high school boys were more likely than junior high school girls to read "Jutsu Kaisen," "One Piece" and "Doraemon," while junior high school girls were more likely to read "Spy x Family," "[My favorite child]," "Yakuya no Hitorigoto," "Hi-Q! Bungo Stray Dogs," and "Yamada-kun to Lv999 no Koi wo Suru" had higher percentages of female junior high school students.

Among high school boys, "Jujutsu Kaisen" ranked first with more than 40% of the male junior high school students, and "Jujutsu Kaisen" also ranked high in LINE Research's Youth Trend Survey*.

Other than that, "Bocchi Za Rokku!" at No. 7, "Bocchi Za Rokku! and No. 8, "I want to be a powerful person in the shadows! were higher than the other groups.
On the other hand, among high school girls, "SPY x FAMILY," which was also No. 1 among junior high school girls, came in at No. 1 with over 40% of the respondents, followed by "Yakuya no Hitorigoto" at No. 2, "Hi-Q! and "Chiikawa" came in at No. 5 and No. 10, respectively.
By gender, "Soso no Freelen," "Bocchi Za Rokku! I want to be a powerful man in the shadows! had higher percentages among male high school students. On the other hand, "SPY x FAMILY," "Yakuya no Hitorigoto," "HIQUE! Chiikawa" had higher percentages among female high school students than among male high school students.
