Aurora commented on the title of the album, which means "What happened to your heart? Aurora commented on the album, their fourth album in total, which is titled "What happened to your heart?

The heart was believed to be the center of the soul, of intuition, and of emotion and will, although its detailed function and structure were not clearly understood. Until it was determined that they were the result of the brain. Emotions swallowed by logic. And since the world is poisoned by money, power, and selfishness, one cannot help but ask: "What happened to the heart? What happened to your heart?"

Aurora also sent a message to her Japanese fans in preparation for the album's release, stating the following about "how she would like her Japanese fans to hear this album."

'I hope you will listen with your heart and not with your mind. But there is nothing in particular you wish from me. You don't have to do anything. I don't mind. I hope you do what you want to do. But I want everyone to take it seriously, because it's a very important album for me. And I want to tell people that this album is for everyone. We have to work a little harder. We have to be considerate of each other. But everyone already knows that. So I don't think I have to say it, but I hope this album will bring light to people."

What Happened to the Heart?" was recorded in Norway, Germany, London and Los Angeles and features Arne Brunn, Tom Rowlands of the Chemical Brothers, as well as Matthias Telles, known for his work with Girl in Red and Maisie Peters, Chris Greatti, who has worked with Youngblood and Blink 182, Dave Heimlin, known for his work with Beyoncé and King Princess, and Aurora and their first album, What Happened to the Heart?
