Billy Irish released the music video for "Chihiro" from his latest AL "Hit Me Hard and Soft" and will visit Japan for the first time in two years to promote his latest AL, which is a worldwide hit!
Billy Irish, who holds the record for being the youngest artist ever to win the Grammy Award for "Record of the Year" two years in a row, has released a music video for the song "Chihiro" from his third album "Hit Me Hard and Soft," released in May.
The music video is directed by Billie Irish. The video begins with Billie walking through a dark building with the door closed, and when she sees a man coming out of a room, she chases after him, but as soon as she catches up to him, he disappears. Wandering further into the building, Billie finds him standing further down the hallway, but they argue... and so the story unfolds. The long, dark hallway and the action of closing the door represent various corners of emotion, depicting the story as if in a dream. Along with actor Nat Wolff, who plays the role of the man Billy is chasing, the film gradually tumbles into a connection from which he cannot escape, and the deep feelings of fear, love, and desire catch up with him even as he tries to escape, making for a fascinating image that expresses the push and pull of inner emotions.
Commenting on the song "Chihiro," Billy Irish said
'One of my favorite songs and I love the title of the song and what it means to me. I think the song represents the typical style of Phineas (Billy's brother) and me. I think the lyrics, as well as the way I sing, express well who I am at my core and who people know me to be. The production is also very Phineas-like, unique and interesting. I love this song and I feel like it just gets better every time I hear it."
Their latest album, "Hit Me Hard and Soft," is their first since their second album, "Happier Than Ever," released in July 2021, and has been streamed more than 1 billion times worldwide, reaching #1 in more than 25 countries.
And next week, he will visit Japan for the first time ever for promotional purposes! This will be Billy's first visit to Japan since his solo show in August 2022.
Further information will be announced on the official website of Universal Music Japan, so stay tuned.
