RAISE THE ANCHOR" by Kobukuro Comment on the song
As we celebrated our 25th anniversary, I looked back to the time when we started singing together, just the two of us.
It is a place where no one is listening yet, a place where just the two of us begin.
I think we have been on a journey together from that point on.
That day, we formed "Kobukuro" and headed out to the open sea.
On the sea, with no landmarks, no goal set, only the direction I wanted to go, I continued to write songs while reading the wind and repairing my boat.
The friends I met along the way, the places, the hope and despair I felt as I rained on that journey, and the wonder of music. I am adding it to the map of my life.
I am proud and thankful that we are here today because we have kept on rowing our boat on the great ocean, no matter what storms we encountered, and we never abandoned the boat.
It is a big milestone of 25 years, but rather than just looking back, this song expresses our determination to raise the anchor and start moving forward from here to the next destination that we have yet to see, and our great big thanks to all the people who have been sending us the wind.
