Elton John & Brandi Carlisle's collaborative album "Where Are the Angels?" was released on April 4 and reached No. 9 on the U.S. album chart, becoming Elton John's 22nd and Brandi Carlisle's fourth top 10 album in the United States.

Brandi Carlisle gave an interview in Japan regarding "Where Are the Angels?

Q1How does it feel to work on an album with Elton John, who has been a longtime admirer of yours?

Brandi Carlisle: I really enjoyed working with Elton John. He is an exceptional composer. He has an immeasurable knowledge of chords and music that few musicians alive can match. He was from a time when it was commonplace to have a proper understanding of music theory, which is no longer very useful in today's music industry. So he is not just a songwriter, not just a pop star, but a composer. It was a unique experience to be in the same room with him and see his skills at work. He is also a truly formidable performer. He plays the piano powerfully and sings loudly. You can feel the life force in it. There is something that appeals directly to the physical body. That is why poets and lyricists are greatly inspired to work with an artist like him. There has never been anyone like him before, and there will never be anyone like him again. These experiences I have had with him are something I have always dreamed of since I was 11 years old, and I will hold them dear to my heart for years to come. From now on, I will always think of Elton when I write songs. He gave me something that no one can take away.

Q2:1stSingle "Where is the Angel" (original title:Who Believes In Angels? Please talk about What is the meaning behind the title?

Brandi: "Where are the Angels" is the last song on the album that we co-wrote and completed. There are many different themes on the album that we both worked on lyrics for, such as friendship, family, love, and life. We wrote a lot about our spouses, and our children, and there is also a song about death as Elton enters the final chapter of his life. It also includes a lot of messages of encouragement and encouragement to LGBTQIA people. In the midst of all this, "Where Are the Angels" is a song about the experience of two friends going into the studio and creating a piece together. This is the only song that is about us - him and me - and our album. That's why it's my favorite song. It describes in depth what the experience meant to both of us.

Q3Do you plan to do more concerts with Elton or continue to work with him?

Brandi: The interesting thing about Elton John is that he loves to do things that no one would expect. For me, I bet he wakes up every morning and the first thing he does is, "Okay, what can I do today that will defy people's expectations?" I think he's thinking, "What's the best way to do it? So I don't know how he wants to do the concert with us, or how far he wants to go. But one thing I can say for sure is that at the show at the Palladium Theatre (in London on March 26), he was in an unruly groove. He didn't look like someone who didn't want to do another concert. He was on top of his game. He was just great. The concert was great. So I'm hoping that there will be one or two more opportunities for us to play together, and with Elton, I'm sure he'll do something unexpected.

--are you planning to continue your activities in the long term?

Brandi: That's a good question. I'll answer it in a roundabout way. I will never make music without Elton again. Because Elton is in me. (He's on my shoulders (like an angel). But I can't imagine the two of us not continuing to make music together. It's something we do as a matter of course now.

Q4Have you ever been to Japan? What are your impressions of Japan, what do you know about Japan, and what would you like to do in Japan?

Brandi: I have never been to Japan, but it is a dream for our family to go there. My wife and I have two daughters, ages 10 and 7, who are both learning Japanese and are so immersed in the Japanese culture that they say, "Mom, take us to Japan. I really want to go to Japan". So, when they make a little more progress in their Japanese language studies and get good grades, I plan to take them to Japan as a reward. Everyone in the family wants to make it happen.

--You mentioned that your child is learning Japanese, what was the impetus for this?

Brandi: Through school, we had the opportunity to learn, and we both took it, and now we're really into Japanese culture. Of course, we also have Japanese friends, so we are also influenced by the friends we have on a regular basis.

Q5: "Swing for the Fences" is aLGBTQ+I understand that this is a song of support for the children of +. Tell us about this song.

Brandi: I think this song is full of dog-whistle rhetoric. It's full of little messages of hope that queer people can understand. It resonates with who we are and how we live. I believe these messages of hope are really important, especially for young people. Especially adolescents, because they can only think about what is happening in front of them. For gay youth, it can be upsetting if the times they are living in are difficult to live in. America today is truly a difficult time to live in for queers. That's why this song encourages them to say, "Listen, everyone. I wanted to put an encouraging message in this song, "A bright future is sure to come. We can overcome this time. We can definitely overcome this time. Those who persist in oppressing us will not live forever. I wanted to tell them, "We will definitely get over this. My life is the best proof of this. I was able to grow up and become friends and make an album with the person I most admired as a child. I can think of nothing better to help people understand that "circumstances will get better someday, dreams will come true, and miracles can happen to anyone."

Q6JapanPOPSArtist Shinjiro Yasu is the newest member of the2He translated the lyrics of the songs "Where is the Angel" and "Swing for the Fences" into Japanese. Mr. Yo.2He came out two years ago and says he feels very sympathetic to the lyrics and is very encouraged by you and Elton, the great pioneer.

Brandi: What I just heard is a really great story, and I feel very honored that he not only took the time to translate the lyrics, but that he took the lyrics to his heart. And that the lyrics moved me. It means a lot to me that he got that because that's what I wrote them for. So I wish him luck and God bless him and thank him for contributing to my and Elton's message.

Q7: "Where are the angels?" album cover and "Where are the angels?music videoSo, there is a tribute to the legends of the music scene?

Brandi: I wanted to pay tribute to those who have come before me, both in the LGBTQ community and in the artist community, who have supported it. I wanted to honor those who have come before me, because without a proper understanding of the path I have taken, it is difficult to understand where I need to go. We wanted to honor and thank those who have paved the way by creating music that gets us out of bed every morning with hope.

Q8Please give a message to your Japanese fans who have been supporting you.

Brandi: My name is Brandi Carlisle. Thank you so much for listening to "Where Are the Angels" and supporting me and Elton. I love you with all my heart.
