The latest film by Edward Berger, "The Papal Election," starring Rafe Fiennes and winning the Academy Award® for Best Adapted Screenplay, will be screened in Dolby Atmos from Friday, June 20 to commemorate the blockbuster success of the film!
This film is an exquisite mystery that depicts the inside story of the papal election "conclave" that decides the reigning Pope at the Vatican, the headquarters of Catholicism.
Adapted from the original story by journalist and author Robert Harris, adapted by Peter Strahan, who was nominated for an Academy Award R for "Circus of Betrayal" (2011), and directed by Edward Berger of the Netflix original film "No Stranger on the Western Front" (2010). With a talented international cast including Rafe Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, and Isabella Rossellini, the film was nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and won Best Adapted Screenplay at the 97th Academy Awards R, and swept the international awards race.
The film, which began screening on March 20 (Thursday, national holiday), has been ranked in the top 10 in the weekend movie ranking for eight consecutive weeks, surpassed 1 billion yen in its 10th week of release, and its current cumulative box-office total exceeds 1.1 billion yen and continues to increase. In response to the great response, the film will be screened in Dolby Atmos at TOHO Cinemas Nihonbashi, TOHO Cinemas Umeda, and other venues.
