Newspeak closes its Christmas acoustic live show with a great success!
Newspeak, a three-piece rock band active in Japan and abroad, held a special Christmas solo acoustic live "Merry Merry Newspeak 2025 (Acoustic Set)" today at Shibuya gee-ge.
Tickets sold out within 3 minutes after the live concert was announced, and the event was so successful that a live broadcast was held exclusively for fan clubs for those fans who could not make it to the venue. The venue was filled with fans who were lucky enough to get tickets, and when the members appeared on stage, they were greeted with warm applause.

The first song was "Ocean Wind & Violet Waves," a Christmas song released in 2022. Vocalist Rei made the audience feel at home and relaxed, saying, "I hope you will enjoy the show in a relaxed atmosphere. In the middle of the song, they covered Ryuichi Sakamoto's famous song "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence", the theme song of the movie "Merry Christmas at the Battlefield". In the second half of the concert, they performed for the first time "Burning Lungs," which was just released this week. Although it was a winter song, it was a passionate performance filled with the passion of the band members. Next, they performed "Jerusalem," a ballad that fit the Christmas season. The last two songs were "All I Want for Christmas Is You" and "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)," covering classic Christmas songs. For the encore, they performed their debut song "What We Wanted" on short notice, closing the show with a great success.

For this concert, Newspeak arranged the songs on the setlist acoustically, and the performance featured Newspeak's unique arrangements of both originals and covers. The audience was intoxicated by this one-night-only special live performance, just like the Christmas season. Newspeak announced in the MC that they will hold a solo tour in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka in March, and we can look forward to their activities in 2026.
