YOASOBI will sing the theme song for the movie "Fureu. The song will be YOASOBI's first theme song tie-up for an animated film. This will be YOASOBI's first theme song tie-up with an animated film, and Mari Okada, who writes the screenplay for the song, wrote the novel for the song and created the new song "Monotone" based on it. The work is "Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai." (2011, 2013), "Kokoro ga yakutta itagatteiru da." (2015) and "Sora no Aoisa wo Shiranai Hito" (2019), the latest original feature-length animation film from director Tatsuyuki Nagai, screenwriter Mari Okada, and character designer Masaga Tanaka, all of whom worked on the "heart-stirring" coming-of-age trilogy. The story is about three young men who have known each other since childhood and are connected by the power of a mysterious creature, even if they do not talk about their feelings. The story of three people and one animal is a work that teaches us the true connection between people in today's world where communication is becoming increasingly complex.

Directed by Nagai Tatsuyuki, who made his directorial debut with "Honey and Clover II" (2006) and has worked on "Toaru Kagaku no Railgun" (2009) and "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blood Orphens" (2015). The screenplay is by Mari Okada, who also wrote and directed the film "Sayonara no Asa ni Yakusoku no Hana wo Kazarou" (2018) and last year's "Alice and Teles no Maboroshi Factory" (2023). Character design is by Masaga Tanaka. He has worked on mega-hits such as the character design for "Suzume no Dokkomari" (2022) and the animation director for "Shin Evangelion the Movie" (2021).

The main characters, Aki, Ryo, and Yuta, will be played by a cast of very talented actors including Ren Nagase, Ryuta Bando, and Kentaro Maeda. The trailer and key visual of the movie, which features a part of the song, were also released today prior to the release of the movie, so be sure to check them out as well.

The song "Monotone," which I wrote for this project, was created while confronting the "relationships between people" that I have felt through my works, as well as the loneliness and feelings for someone else that I feel in my own life.
